Bulgaria took participation in the annual session of the Council of the International Telecommunication Union

 
 
                                                                                                                                                                                        
The Chairman of the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) Mr. Veselin Bozhkov, PhD, took participation in the annual session of the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which was held in the period 12-16 May 2014 in Geneva.

 

The session of the Council was attended by 421 participants from 48 countries representing the total membership in ITU of 193 member-states, joined by 40 observers of the member-states, 5 sector members, as well as representatives of 3 regional telecommunication organizations.

 

The main topics of this year’s meeting of the Council of ITU were the general policy, strategy and planning, reporting the activities of the working groups to the Council and the adoption of the operational plans of the bureaus of the three sectors (Radiocommunication, Development and Standardization). 

 

During the Council’s session, the Chairman of the CRC – Assoc.Prof. Veselin Bozhkov, PhD, held meetings at the highest level with the Secretary-General of ITU – Dr. Hamadoun Touré and the Deputy Secretary-General of ITU – Mr. Houlin Zhao. The main emphasis of the two meetings were the development of the information and communication technologies in the telecommunication sector, the commitment of ITU to implement global connectivity and the results of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
