The available resource of fixed numbers has been increased by over 8 million and is completely sufficient for the scales of the country

In connection with the publications regarding the launched by the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) public consultation procedure on a draft “Regulatory Policy of the CRC for use of numbers, addresses and names in carrying out electronic communications” we inform you that its main purpose is the effective management of the numbering resource, as well as the maximum facilitation of entering of new undertakings on the fixed market.

The indicated in the regulatory policy actions for consolidating of the numbering ranges are not caused by assumptions that the available resource of geographic numbers will be exhausted by the end of 2015. As a result of the introduction of closed number dialling as from 10.03.2012, this resource has been increased by over 8 million numbers and is completely sufficient for the scales of the country.

The eventual reduction of the code length of a certain location will not affect the end users as in the closed number dialing the subscriber will dial both the code and the desired number for each call.

The planned consolidation will give an opportunity for provision of services in a larger geographical region by using smaller groups of numbers. The steps foreseen will lead to improving the efficiency of using the resource of geographic numbers and increasing the region within which the end users can take advantage of the fixed numbers portability as well.
