The CRC organized a meeting between the operators and consumer organizations on problems related to the number portability

With reference to the letters received by consumer organizations regarding problems related to implementation of the number portability procedure, the Communications Regulation Commission (the CRC) organized a meeting with representatives of the Association of the Consumers for Telecommunication and Internet Services (ACTIS), the Movement for National Unity and Salvation (MNUS), the mobile operators, the Society for Electronic Communications (SEC) and the Association “Telecommunications” (ASTEL).

The main purpose of the discussion was all stakeholders to discuss the number portability procedure and the problems, which the consumers of electronic communications services still face in their relations with the operators.

A significant progress in implementation of the number portability was reported. The statistics shows that till 31st of May 2011 the ported fixed numbers were 78,924 and the ported mobile – 161,868, which represents a triple increase of the ported numbers since the introduction of the “one-stop shop” portability.

The operators registered a drastic decrease in the complaints of their subscribers. Nevertheless, there are still technical problems that impede the process. During the discussion, the undertakings announced their readiness to resolve them as soon as possible, as well as to introduce future initiatives by which to ensure at maximum extent the rights of their subscribers, including 7-day period to review the contract by the subscriber and decrease in the period for response to consumers’ complaints.

The discussion that has been held and the conclusions and proposal that have been made laid the foundations of the next stage of the dialogue with the consumers of electronic communications services, in which the CRC will continue to take part actively.
