The CRC prepares an auction to issue an authorization for use of radio frequency spectrum in the 2 GHz range

By Decision No 705 of 04.08.2011, pursuant to Art. 91, para.1 of the Law on electronic communications (LEC), the Communications Regulation Commission (the CRC) announced its intention to issue an authorization for use of individually assigned scarce resource – radio frequency spectrum for carrying out public electronic communications through a mobile terrestrial network – UMTS with national coverage, using individually assigned scarce resource of radio frequency spectrum – 2 x 15 MHz (FDD) in the 2 GHz range.

Six undertakings have filed applications for their intention to use the assigned radio frequency spectrum.

Since the announced free scarce resource is not sufficient for use by all persons who have filed applications, it is forthcoming the CRC, keeping the requirements of the LEC, to prepare and initiate a procedure for conducting an auction with negotiated bidding with a subject – granting one authorization for the assigned spectrum.
