The fixed number portability is starting

The CRC published information for the customers with explanations how they can take advantage of the process
As of 1-st of July 2009 the customers of fixed telephone services will be able to keep their numbers when changing their address or the operator. The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) published information for customers with which it explains the conditions and the steps for realization of the process.
Prior to undertake actions for number portability with change of the operator, it is desirable the subscribers to inquire which operators provide fixed telephone service on the territory of the relevant geographic code. Up to now 18 companies have authorizations for providing such services on the territory of Bulgaria and their names are listed on the CRC web page.
The subscribers that have signed contracts can port their numbers in case that they have been customers of the relevant operator for at least 3 months. For the customers of pre-paid services the portability is possible if after activation of the initial package they have activated additional sum at the minimum total value of 10 BGN to the moment of filing the application.
For the portability of a telephone number the subscribers will pay a single user’s fee of 5 BGN including VAT at their current operator for each number that they wish to port.
