Mobile coverage, quality of mobile service and consumer protection – the main focus of the CRC Chairman meetings in Bucharest

The CRC Chairman will participate in the 17th Annual Meeting of the Network of Regulators of the Member States of the International Organization of la Francophonie – FRATEL, to be held on 23 and 24 October 2019 in Bucharest. This year’s edition has the theme “The challenges of the mobile coverage and quality of service”. The main topics of the meeting include coverage and quality of service obligations in the context of new radio frequency spectrum allocations, in particular for 5G. Another key topic will be the expected benefits of providing information on coverage and quality of service, as well as mechanisms to facilitate mobile networks deployment.

CRC participation will enhance its cooperation with national regulatory authority’s members of FRATEL, including Belgium, France, Switzerland, Canada, Luxembourg, Monaco and many countries in Africa and Asia.

Part of the Bucharest meeting agenda is a high-level discussion on “Mobile coverage and quality of service: benefits and thresholds of sanctions” involving heads of national regulatory authorities, members of FRATEL, aimed at sharing national experience and best practices.

During his stay in Romania, Ivan Dimitrov will also join the annual international conference of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) of Romania. Participants in the event will discuss the broadband mapping, one of the key elements of the broadband networks regulation, as a mechanism for providing independent, reliable and comprehensive information on the mobile coverage. This topic corresponds to the increased mobile user’s interest in obtaining comparable, understandable and up-to-date information on the quality of mobile services.
