The Chairman of CRC attended the WSIS Forum in Geneva

 

The Chairman of the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) Mr. Ivan Dimitrov attended the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum in Geneva, which celebrated its 10th anniversary. He joined the event as a member of the official Bulgarian delegation, led by Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rossen Jeliazkov.

This annual event is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNESCO and the UN.  This is one of the biggest forums, which brings together  all the stakeholders in the area of  Information and Communication Technologies.

WSIS 2019 was held under the theme „Information and Communication Technologies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals“. From 8th to 12th April in Geneva more than 1400 representatives of 130 countries have discussed the ways for achieving a „just and equal information society“ for all the stakeholders.

In the course of the event the Chairman of the Communications Regulation Commission Ivan Dimitrov met Houlin Zhao, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union.

The Bulgarian delegation expressed gratitude for the joint work of CRC and ITU and confidence that the excellent dialogue, established between the two institutions will continue to contribute for the creation of equal opportunities for access to the new information and telecommunication technologies.
