The COMMUNICATIONS REGULATION COMMISSION draws users' attention to the fact that the use of GSM/UMTS jammers on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria is not allowed and operation of jammers shall be liable to fines from BGN 200 to 2,000 under Art. 328, para. 1 of the Electronic Communications Act.

 

Jammers are designed to emit radio signals for the purpose of blocking radio signals from other radio equipments using the same radio frequency bands. Thus, jammers have a "harmful influence" that hinders the work of other radio services operating in accordance with the national legislation in force. In this respect, GSM/UMTS jammers cannot be placed on the market and/or in operation and in accordance with the Ordinance on the Essential Requirements and Conformity Assessment of Radio Equipment and Terminal Telecommunications Equipment and the Technical Requirements to Products Act.
