Out-of-court dispute settlement bodies under the Digital Services Act

As a user of online platforms, have you encountered any of the following issues: Has your account been suspended, your content been deleted, demonetised or restricted? Or have you reported harmful or illegal content to the platform and it has failed to take action or you were not satisfied with the action taken?

Out-of-court dispute settlement bodies have been created to help people and organisations in the EU challenge content moderation decisions by online platforms.

Made possible by the EU’s Digital Services Act, Out-of-court dispute settlement bodies may cover everything from social media to shopping platforms. Dispute settlement bodies are an alternative to courts, without limiting your right to go to court. They are independent, guarantee human review, and are either free or charge a nominal fee. While their decisions are not binding, platforms must engage with them in good faith.
