After conducted public consultations, by Decision No 783 of 22.07.2010 the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) adopted a change in the geographic numbers dialling in the Republic of Bulgaria

After conducted public consultations, by Decision No 783 of 22.07.2010 the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) adopted a change in the geographic numbers dialling in the Republic of Bulgaria. As of 10.01.2011 a closed dialling, while maintaining the geographical significance of the numbers, will be introduced.

In case of a closed dialling for call realization the full national significant number, including the national destination code, is always used regardless of whether the calling and the called subscribers are located within a single location or in different locations. The dialling of the prefix “0” will be kept as well. Thus the transition from open to closed dialling will lead to a change only in the dialling within the same geographical code, since at the time being in case of long distance dialling and dialling to mobile and non-geographic numbers, the whole national significant number and prefix „0” are used.

The change in the method of dialling will ensure a possibility for the use of an additional numbering capacity of geographic numbers within the existing geographic codes and for the realization of geographic numbers portability in the regions served by the analogue stations.

Until 10.01.2011 the undertakings should make the necessary changes and adjustments in their networks, and a preliminary explanatory campaign for the end users has to be carried out.
