CRC has adopted rules on issuing authorizations for analogue broadcasting of television signals

After the completion of a public consultation, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) adopted rules of procedure for issuing authorizations for the use of individually assigned scarce resource - radio spectrum for provision of electronic communications through electronic communications networks used for terrestrial analogue broadcasting of television signals.

The rules are pursuant to § 5 para. 3 of the Transitional and Final Provisions of the Law on Electronic Communications (LEC) and will enter into force on the day of their promulgation in the State Gazette. They determine the procedures to be followed by the CRC for issuing authorizations for analogue broadcasting of television signals.

Candidates are required to hold a general (polythematic) or specialised registration under the Law on Radio and Television, and 24-hour duration of the program. Authorisations will not be issued to persons who already hold one with national coverage or local one for the settlements they apply for.

The deadline for applications is 10 days from the promulgation of the rules in the State Gazette. Along with the template application a number of documents should be enclosed in order to certify that the applicant satisfies the requirements such as evidence of revenue from advertising, equipped television studio, ability to technically secure the quality of the program, etc.

According to the rules, the CRC will publish information on the scarce resources available on its website on the day of their promulgation in the State Gazette.
