Roundtable held on the implementation of public warning systems in Europe

On December 10, 2019, experts from the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) participated in a roundtable on "Preparing for the implementation of public warning systems in Europe". The event was organized by DG Fire Safety and Population Protection, National System 112 Directorate and the European Emergency Numbers Association (EENA).

The European Electronic Communications Code provides that by 2022 EU Member States roll out public warning systems using  means of electronic communications networks and services. At the forum, the responsible institutions, the Ministry of the Interior, CRC and MTITC, together with the mobile operators and EENA discussed the importance, efficiency and expected results from the implementation of alternative public warning systems. Viable technology solutions for public warning systems, their capabilities, advantages and disadvantages were also presented.

The exchange of information and ideas will contribute to the adoption of technology solutions to be applied in the implementation of alternative public warning systems in the Republic of Bulgaria.
